Forget Love

Love is easy.

Admiration is precious.

Love is kind and effortless

Admiration is ruthless and earned

Love costs nothing

Admiration costs a soul’s share

What is your soul but self-respect

A fusion star, a far-reaching reactor, a freewheeling factory

Self-powering, self-contained, self-sustaining

Spare not your soul for all, but know you have that to spare

For those who accept the toilsome path

For those who deny the expedient

For those who choose ambitious bonds

Those have paid the toll for discerning respect

A piece of the sun given to another sun

Neither crave it, both are grateful for the exchange

Respect burns in each others heart from the core first

Admiration is the heart’s corona flaring to a crown

Love is something else.

Something to pass the time in huddled masses

When the sun refuses to shine.
